Nice volume and price action in NTOP today. Could be a harbinger of a Monday announcement, IMO.

With the AT&T meeting next week, there's got to be some big stuff about to happen. The question is whether T will issue press releases before the meeting to get the public primed for their ultimate direction to be decided upon at the meeting. My answer would be a resounding "Yes".

As NTOP options expire tomorrow, there's not much incentive for the NTOP options specialist on the American Options Exchange to force a close below $30 with an open interest of about 1300 contracts on the Sept 30 Calls, which control 130,000 shares.

Yet not all of those call option contracts are always hedged by the options specialist. Rather, a high percentage of calls are hegged by shareholders writing covered calls, in which case, the specialist has nothing to risk at expiration and therefore no incentive to close below $30 on Friday.

With the tape action on NTOP today, it looks like Friday will be above $30, barring other exigent circumstances such as the Nasdaq tanking.
