Iridium satellites have a very short half-life. Iridium was always irrelevant to me since Globalstar has 10 billion minutes to sell and Iridium only ever had 1 billion and were NEVER going to launch a second constellation. I didn't really think they would proceed to launch, right up to the day they launched the first rocket.

It just goes to show the power of vested interests. They will spend other people's money with impunity.

Nobody is going to start buying Iridium phones again. Maybe the USA military [who built a gateway I believe] want to keep it going for a bit longer or something and are slipping Motorola some dosh to do it.

Iridium is irrelevant. Other than as a psychological drag or nail in the heart as Bernie quaintly puts it.
