Milo, Intel's current most current spec numbers use the Intel 5.0 compiler, and I'm sure for the P4 it's pure SSE2. From the numbers at spec.org, it looks like the 5.0 compiler produces integer code about 5% faster than the 4.5, while the FP code seems about 10% better, for the same machine on the 2 different compilers. It's nice that Intel has the resources for a compiler operation dedicated solely to producing good specmarks, but it also makes the benchmark a little dubious. Too bad, I used to take spec seriously.
