the inherent problem with calling companies like amcc, pmcs, vtss, brcm and others "semiconductor companies" is that it makes half of the idiot portfolio managers that own these things think that they will be part of the semiconductor cycle.

When pc growth stumbles and consumer electronics go through another wild compression in pricing or rotten product cycle, it'll be a messs for the "semiconductor" group of companies and the communications guys will get hammered, yet business will keep moving along.

The end of the current semi cycle will be bad for the stocks I mentioned, but not their businesses, once the moron money managers realize that (3 to 6 months later) perhaps people will realize that it matters what end market the company sells to.
