The wages can't be raised because corporations realize that they need to build in foreign countries with lower labor rates to remain competitive in global markets. The equilibrium price on the supply-demand curve goes down as production costs go up. All people benefit from the world markets offering products for less. This keeps inflation down and allows folks to acquire necessities at a somewhat reasonable price. The European fuel taxes act much in the same manner that increases in wages act. They all drive up price.knc
