That was a blown opportunity. There are millions of web sites operating, with many trying to figure out an easy way to do e-commerce. If they had set up one system for everyone to use, they could have taken a small piece of each trasaction. Instead, these web site operators have to search and choose among hundreds of ecommerce options without a full understanding of the security of each, and in most cases without being able to fully integrate ecommerce into their sites. Many of the sytems being offered let people create ecommerce web sites using templates, but the templates are clunky and limiting. The alternative untile very recently was to pony up thousands of dollars to have ecommerce customized to fit into a web site. This seems to be changing now, but the whole ecommerce area for small businesses has been in a shambles for the past couple of years. MSFT, ORCL, Sunw and a few others had, and still have, an opportunity in this area. INTCfan
