Luminex Acquires Data/Ware Product Line From Anacomp

RIVERSIDE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 15, 2000--Luminex Software Inc. Friday announced a major acquisition of technology, clientele and engineering talent.

Under an agreement between Luminex and computer service and support giant Anacomp, with headquarters in Poway, Calif., Luminex has acquired the premium Data/Ware product line and customer base. In addition, Luminex has hired the entire Data/Ware engineering and product marketing team. Anacomp Technical Services will continue to provide maintenance services to existing Data/Ware customers and will expand their maintenance offerings to all worldwide Luminex customers.

Data/Ware represents a premium, high-end application suite that is tailored toward the conversion of Data Center information from print files onto CD-R media. The Data/Ware product line is available for IBM Mainframe and Client Server networks. Many giants of corporate America have come to rely on the superior Data/Ware products and services, including the nation's 15 largest banks, as well as insurance companies, local, state and federal government installations, and renowned financial institutions throughout the world.

"The acquisition clearly establishes Luminex as a formidable force in the digital data archival and distribution marketplace," stated Luminex Co-Founder and Business Development Director Arthur Tolsma. "The largest Data Centers in the world are running IBM Mainframes or Client/Server networks. The Data/Ware solutions serve both communities, and the customer base testifies to the quality and value of the products. Luminex intends to vigorously enhance and expand the product line to better serve the Data/Ware customers."

Luminex, which has headquarters in Riverside, will open a satellite office in the Poway area of San Diego County. The engineering and marketing departments of the two offices will begin working together as a single, focused unit.

"We are very pleased to add the high caliber of people and products of Data/Ware to our family," said Brian Hawley, president of Luminex. "We are committed to creating and capturing the many synergies that are apparent. We will continue to develop and enhance the Data/Ware products and are focused on supporting and meeting the archive and distribution needs of the current Data/Ware customers. By adding the complete engineering and development team of Data/Ware, we are confident in our ability to develop new products into the future."

In addition to offices in Riverside and San Diego, Luminex will open sales offices in key locations throughout the U.S. and has plans to open offices in London and Tokyo.

"The combined Luminex, Data/Ware installations give Luminex a significant worldwide customer base," stated Michael Saunders, Luminex co-founder and vice president of Sales and Marketing. "The Data/Ware acquisition represents an excellent opportunity for ourcustomers and our employees. The maintenance options afforded by Anacomp Technical Service solidify our ability to service a worldwide customer base. We are very pleased to have found a product line that is so well matched with ours. The combination of the Luminex products and the Data/Ware products will be much greater than the sum of its individual parts."
