Compression & Encryption Technologies Shipping Products
To Brazil

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--Compression & Encryption Technologies Inc.
(CYH) is pleased to announce that Masterway Telecomunicacoes Ltda
(Sao Paulo, Brazil) has recently purchased Datamaster and
Framemaster products to introduce the CYH product line to the
Brazil telecommunications market. Masterway was founded in 1988 to
provide consulting and support in the area of telecommunications.
The business has since grown to include sales and support of data
communications hardware products such as Paradyne, OpenConnect and
Cisco. The Masterway service offerings include the resale of
Internet access bandwidth for Embratel, a major carrier in Brazil.
Current customers of Masterway Telecomunicacois include banks,
manufacturers, service companies and major telecommunications
carriers.

During the period 1997-99, Brazil migrated from a state owned
monopoly for telecommunications to a fully privatized and
competitive private sector. Investment by the new telecom
operators over the next 3 years is estimated to be US$25 billion.
Brazil is a large country which several large cities such as Sao
Paulo and Rio De Janeiro and many smaller regional centers. This
situation creates significant challenges for the delivery of data
communications services. The result is that both domestic and
international data communications costs are very high and the
service quality is highly variable, conditions that the CYH
products are designed to address.

Over the past several months, CYH has been working with Masterway
and their associates to understand the value of the CYH products
in the Brazilian market where the additional bandwidth gained by
using the CYH equipment provides a payback in a few weeks to a few
months. The new telecommunications investment and challenges of
the marketplace create an ideal environment for the CYH products.
Masterway's experience in communication hardware allows them to be
ideal partners to help both end users and data communications
service providers take advantage of the CYH technology.

The CYH products are designed to extend bandwidth of Wide Area
Network (WAN) Services. Data communications carriers provide these
WAN services on a monthly basis depending upon capacity. By using
the CYH hardware, carriers are able to offer a Premium Data
Service without a major investment in communications
infrastructure. The family of CYH data link optimization products
deliver up to four times the throughput normally available on
existing data links. The value of the extra bandwidth obtained
from the use of the hardware is very dependant upon the local
costs of bandwidth. With demand for bandwidth growing faster than
the infrastructure can grow, an opportunity is created for
effective bandwidth optimization technologies.

Compression trades on the Canadian Venture Exchange (CDNX) under
