No, they aren't. Quake 3 is the only example I can think of... (but there are some other games who use the 3D-engine so they get SSE support "for free") But also keep in mind that the graphic card drivers are usually SSE/3DNow optimized. (this was why in Anands DDR test the Athlon compared so poor to the P3: the Voodoo 5 drivers have virtually no 3DNow optimization)
