You have no idea of what the administrative cost are for these programs not to mention the fraudulent claims. We're talking billions--that bloat the bureaucracy and go to the wrong people...just wasted.

My proposal is simple: no workee/no payee.

Necon, I'm not sure if you're aware of this but a single full-time worker (family of one) at the Minimum Wage of $5.15 earns $10,712 and easily clears the Federal Poverty Guidlines. But if a single worker's earned income and modified AGI were both less than $10,200 (1999) he was elligible for EIC. If that single worker knows a tax return tricks the gains are enormous.
