Greg,

I assume the following paragraph was a metaphor for our relationship and covenant with God:

If I decided to become an American and took the oath of allegiance but then proceeded to work with foreign agents in a plot to overthrow the government I would rightly be charged with treason. If I further declared that I never really believed the words of the oath anyway then not only would my loyalty, but also my integrity could be legitimately questioned.

If I was born free-will, and reason and that reason is in the image of God, then when did I "decide"? Where is my contract with the Deity? I've never taken an oath to Him - He never asked me, nor did he give me the choice to accept or reject such a declaration based upon my reason and judgement.

When I hear "Man didn't write the Bible, God Did". Well God, as far as I know, doesn't make printing presses, do translations, or run churches. There are many different versions of the Bible. All written by people. You are asking me to accept the works of man as the legitimate proxy to God's own word. I reject that. It's just not in my Godly nature to do that. I will have to discuss this one day with Him. But in the mean time, I will continue to use my gifts as I see them to form a rational and moral model of the universe.

To quote a good friend: "I'd have an easier time being a Christian if it wasn't for credibility of those whom He chooses to share his word."
