I don't think the 1991 filing contained anything related to the current issues around SDRAM.
It appears that most or all Rambus Patent filings in the US were subsequently filed in Europe (and I think Japan). Dates of subsequent filings may be the more important issue with respect to JEDEC and/or novelty. My gut feeling is this will be litigated in at least one venue until there is a resolution of IP validity, (at least for the IP related to SDRAM). But not knowing much about patent law, JMHO's.
