Actually that's not true. From what I remember (and understand), an arbitration judge awarded AMD a perpetual and royalty free license to AMD for Intel's x86/x87 code for some of Intel's "shennenagins" in the mid to late 80's.

I don't think that AMD has a license to
SSE/SSE-2 or x86/x87 instructions for that matter.
