I thought that CNBC had already sunk to the lowest depths of inanity.
That was before we were treated to the carnival like hysteria
surrounding Greenspan and his interest rate. Will he or won't he?
For the past days, CNBC has looked at this coming FOMC decision from
100 ways to Sunday. It sponsored polls of economists and of visitors
to its web site. There is as much hype and hysteria, as much talk
and crosstalk about this event as there was before and during the
Apollo moon shot.

Now that the decision is for no change, the No Brainer Network can
spend the next two days talking about what it means, taking polls,
etc. Then, another two days talking about what would have
transpired had rates been raised followed again by two days of
polls on the number of Greenspan's nose hairs, et cetera, ad
nauseam, ad infintum, ad libitum.

Good grief.
