Comments from a Dain Rauscher "Get Connected" attendee?

The following is from wunderkind777_01545 on Yahoo. Dain Raushcer's website lists the conference as Sep 11-14, but does not list NXTV as a presenter. Virata (VRTA), however, was a presenter. NXTV's participation as well as customer / supplier details have not yet been confirmed.

I was at the Dain Raucher's "Get Connected" conference in Scottsdale AZ earlier this week and NXTV presented at 4:30 on Tuesday. During the presentation they said that they were in discussions with AT&T (which is new news and could be huge). They also announced a relationship with Telefonica Spain which should bring in $40mm in rev by the 4th Q! This is also new news and not in analyst models. They then said that their target Gross Margins are 40% but that they expect to be at 45% by Q1 2002! I have never heard a CFO say something like that before....5% better than their target.

They said that they approached Q with a cost cutting proposal and that they believe that they will be able to cut costs by 50% by April/May and sell to Q at higher margins! NXTV met with Q on Wednesday to further discuss.

They believe that there is a $400 Billion potential market out there and that they are "years ahead from any potential competitors" There is a huge opportunity to sell into the cable companies as well. The CFO said that he learned that 16% of all cable is stolen (he learned this from speaking with senior management at a major cable company....AT&T maybe?) NXTV's system is 100% digital and secure...it can not be stolen! Can you imagine how valueable it would be to all of the cable companies if they could instantly add 16% to their top lines!

I also got on a private bus with the CFO and others and went to a NXTV facility in Pheonix to look at their product live and in use (via Qwest). It is awesome! With one set top box you can watch HBO in the living room, Showtime in the bedroom, ESPN in the den while logging on to the Internet via very high speed VDSL access. While we were getting onto the bus the CFO told me that "customers are comming out of the woodwork".

They said that Qwest is knocking on doors in Pheonix and are getting a 50% take rate for video and 22% for high speed Internet. Qwest is getting an average of $80 per customer and 96% of the customers are happy with the service and many think that it is a better product that Cox Cable. They currently have 50k subscribers in Pheonix with 400K homes passed (I guess that they haven't knocked on 300k of those houses yet).

I met yesterday with VRTA CEO and he said that NXTV is a customer and that VRTA expects to get lots of business from Korea and specifically that NXTV has good momentum there.
