If the SSF are to be priced mathematically or as broad indexes are, as OX said, I wouldn't know why to trade them, options are just fine.

But, if they would be priced as some commodities (like oil or timber), including seasonality, cycles, expected supply and demand, then this would be interesting.
Personnally I doubt it.

I expect these SSFs to be used as custom made specialized indexes or baskets. More as risk management (Sharpe ratio) of portfolios: the way index futures are used.

We also have to wait for the margin requirements. The futures sector does not likes "non-members" and one can expect SSF trading-club to be "members only".
