Yet another Carrier's Carrier: Petronet

Hi ftth,

Apparently, there are a lot of oil and gas right-of-ways in this country. Here's another optical network that is just getting out of the starting blocks: Petronet

I'm beginning to doubt my whizdumb from last summer. Maybe we will soon have that feared bandwidth glut on our hands. Could be a bonanza for the consumer, but I don't see how having so many competing networks can be beneficial to any of the companies involved, nor their shareholders. I'm having a profound sense of deju vu here.... It's beginning to look a whole lot like the map of the US in 1872, when every Jay, Collis and Jay was drawing helter-skelter lines across the continent. At least they settled on a standard gauge, unlike Australia, which still has sections of the country underdeveloped due to incompatible rolling stock.

So the question is, I suppose, does this latest wunderkind get nicknamed Imperti-net?

Just Wondering, or Marveling or Whatever, Ray
