Danforth, Goldwater, Bunning, Ford - outstanding choices.
Goldwater was before my time, but I've heard and read makes the current crop of conservative standard bearers look particularly small. Ford is indeed a good and decent man, who, as President, had the extraordinary political courage to recognize and do what was necessary (pardoning Nixon)knowing full well that it would cost him the election. You don't see that kind of guts often. I was too young to vote in that election, but that kind of courage deserved a better fate at the ballot box. However, Carter has probably proven to be the country's best ex-president.
