What ever happened to plan 9?

Don't count BSD out. Remember it is backed by Berkely Software Design the original Unix and is reputed to be more stable than Linux.

Have you ever run Samba on win98? What is the secret to getting your win98 files visible to Linux? The win98 box sees the Linux box ok. Both boses appear in Network Nayboorhood. I enable file shares in windows and I get a bad passwd combo in Samba, I enable user acess in windows and I get a connection and can cd from smbclient but ls and get do. not work I left the share as user in smb.conf. I read where Samba cannot co-exist with user settings in windows but what screws up the passwd? Passwd paths are set. I note that mksmbpasswd does not work. Version is 2.05

Running Slackware 7.0
