<Qualcomm would be in worse position if the governments handed out spectrum in beauty contests where the established cabals would have the sway. > Not if China specified MC-CDMA. Even if they specified DS-CDMA, it wouldn't be bad [Q! can do that and would get the same royalties].

The important issue in a beauty contest is that the carriers build out an 'uneconomic' amount of infrastructure and subsidize handsets rather than simply keep the profits of the free spectrum for their shareholders who will blow it on wine, women and song.

I believe the Korean CDMA games are intended to continue to try to lever Q! royalties down. They must be starting to understand that royalties are going UP if anything, not down.

China is jerking the CDMA adoption back and forth to ensure they get the Senate to give a favourable trade decision. China will then do what they want to do which is use USA [and my] capital to build out a huge CDMA network while getting as much stuff done locally as they can.

Just a matter of time. All good fun.
