blisenko - your points and analogy are well taken. Yet busses have been around nearly as long as cars, and all of those arguments have been true for all of that time. Cars still outnumber busses hundreds to one. Why?

I suggest that the same forces which have worked for nearly a hundred years in the case of busses and cars are also working in the case of "the customer experience" in computing, and that despite the many good arguments you propose, that won't change. For every person like yourself who has reasoned through the requirements and says "sign me up for the bus", there are a hundred who say "I just don't care, I'm driving myself to work".
