Appears that we're prepared to blame anyone but ourselves, and our own consumption, for our problems. High domestic and world demand for petroleum combined with restricted new production and limited domestic refining capacity have brought us to the current "crisis" of high prices. To increase production and refining capacity cannot be done quickly. Thus to reduce our consumption would appear to be the only way to bring supply and demand back into balance over the short term. My guess is that we're going to experience RATIONING of gasoline, fuel oil and natural gas before all is said and done. Here's the link to a good story on the immediate impact of high energy prices on the stock market last week. cbs.marketwatch.com
