On productivity and efficiency.
I had something happen yesterday for the first time that really stunned me.

I wrote a check yesterday for a new pair running shoes and handed it to the clerk. The clerk then took the check and ran it through a scanner, which then printed out a receipt similar to a credit card receipt. The clerk asked me to sign this receipt, which I did...he then handed me back my check. Transaction completed. He no longer must deposit checks, the bank no longer needs to handle that check.

That is an amazing leap in productivity and efficiency. I shared this with my girlfriend, who collects tuition at a local University, and she just lit up at the time savings she could achieve.

How long before checks won't exist...I walked away feeling like a silly for even writing one, I have a bank debit card in my pocket..
