Second, why would Rambus have any responsibility to make RDRAM signals work with SDRAM chips?

I don't know, maybe because the local technical and legal experts, not to mention the money-for-nothing people themselves, all claim SDRAM is patented Rambus technology? Oh, I get it, they allegedly have rights but no responsibilities. I guess that's par for the course for the money for nothing people.
