I wrote a check yesterday for a new pair running shoes and handed it to the clerk. The clerk then took the check and ran it through a scanner, which then printed out a receipt similar to a credit card receipt. The clerk asked me to sign this receipt, which I did...he then handed me back my check. Transaction completed. He no longer must deposit checks, the bank no longer needs to handle that check.

That is an interesting piece of technology. Thanks for sharing. Guess I need to stop watching CNBC and "get out" a little more.

Thanks again.
