Dang. That's the best scariest article on MRV that I've seen. (today's Barron's)

But just who is Off Wall Street Consulting Group and how good are they in what they do?

Well, they might be good with their financial analysis and getting clients to buy such, but they don't seem to be so good in making money from their picks and pans. Here's their latest record (that I can find):

offwallstreet.com

And they don't seem to be very well known to the general public. From what their website shows, it almost - almost - seems (to me anyway) that Barron's likes to trot them out once a year in September to give a negative opinion on some stock.

offwallstreet.com

Off Wall Street seems to gear its recommendations to financial aspects of a company. From their website: "...when Off Wall Street thinks that actual financial results will create a change in investors' perception about the value of a stock. Off Wall Street's research explains in detail why this turn in events should happen." While the firm's analyses of the financial aspects might be correct (I don't know though), I disagree that their conclusion should therefore follow - sell because the stock is overvalued. To me, MRVC is a firm trying to build up several businesses. So the financials aren't going to look so great. It's more about business potential - being in a key and growing market at the right time with the right technology. (imo)

I've been adding to MRVC on recent dips. Don't like to see this negative article now in Barron's - it is scary to me that Off Wall Street can confidently (it seems to me) make a case for a lower stock price. I surely liked to read the positive MRVC articles in Barron's that appeared within the past past 6-7 months. (I believe there were two such articles.) Sorry the Barron's author today didn't see fit to reference those articles or get an update from the analysts interviewed then.

While the stock may take a "Barron's hit" next week, my bet is still that MRVC will be at higher prices next year rather than lower (assuming the stock market doesn't crash).
