Scott,

A company with the symbol HYC has been pushing this technology for some time now.

The check gets scanned and is now put into the store/corporation's data base.

One major problem with retailers is handling checks.
Up until now, they have to be handled by human hands.
If a check bounces it gets handled by much more than one set of human hands.

This new process automates the the system where this piece of paper is digitized and easily searchable between merchants and banks.

It's just another means of streamlining the entire process.
I had done some DD on HYC a while back.
They must have a great PR firm. They put out a lot of news.
However, they have nearly no volume which was a major turn-off to me.

I'm sure there are others with this technology.
HYC is just one that I know of.
