Charles - I think that young people regard the net the way we regarded tv - just another part of their environment. My 4 year old could use the net before she could construct sentences, and my 7 year old spends as much time on line as I do. My oldest girl is in her 30s and she has occasional use of WebTV and thinks it's all pretty foreign. The family of my parents' generation are pretty much in the "necessary evil" category - they do email and greeting cards but no online shopping, no info searches. On the other hand, all of those people have had PCs for years and all but my little kids have cars. Thus my comment, on an admittedly small sample.
