patron-- Bus drivers earn an average of $50,000 a year but with overtime, MTA officials say that pay increases to $70,000 or $80,000. I know a bus driver who earns even more. He works all the over-time he can clock, he works split shifts driving the wee hours of the morning on dangerous routes. (Other drivers don't want those hours or routes.) He doesn't have a life. I'm afraid it will kill him. He's got two kids heading for college. He doesn't want them to have to drive buses. He might bust six figures this year. More power to him.
