Scumbia Re..<<<We have lots of coal and oil shale, but the social costs associated with them are huge. I worked on oil shale development under Carter (remember MEOW?) in the western slope of Colorado, and realized that it would have destroyed much of the state. Too high a price to pay.<<<<<

Scumbia, if I have to choose between my beloved SUV and Colorado, I am not so sure Colorado would win.. <ggg> Just kidding. Frankly, I fully expect that with the ability to drill 12000 feet under water, we will find several Saudi Arabia sized fields in the oceans. By the time these fields run out, we should have viable, alternative sources of energy, deep drilling for gas and oil, fuel cells and possibly Fission; along with other more esoteric solutions.
