patron--

re: caps on driving. The probably do have caps and that's why many of the shifts he works are split (allowing for rest in between.)

I was reacting to the sublininal implication that it's greedy employees gorging on overtime that are responsible for inflation in one respect or another. (Bus drivers earning $80,000 a year! How dare they? <ggg>)

This guy was mentioned in a newspaper article outlining the problems with the local public transportation authority when the reporter cited how low entry pay and screwed-up hiring practices have created a bonanza for senior drivers. To be fair they gave an example of his weekly work schedule. Most people wouldn't want to work his hours or drive his routes (...even other drivers...that's whey he's making so much $$$) It seems with the hi-tech boom nobody wants to start out driving a bus at night in bad neighborhoods. However, the overall reaction from those people I know who read the story was "righteous" indignation that someone like him should be earning that much money.

If he choses to fund his kid's education so that they don't have to hold part time jobs that's his prerogative.

If they knew of his investing savvy they'd certainly lynch him.
