Telecom stocks
I still think that Telecom stocks are a good turnaround play.Prices have not bottomed out yet but shares look cheap compared to their LT growth rates.
Here are my comments about stock I follow:

Alltel (AT) fairly cheap wireless play (PE 15), they have been able to pick up chunks of wireless networks for decent prices due to mergers (BLS/SBC; VZ etc.)

BLS: South America and European ventures; owns now part of a wireless network with national footprint (with SBC)

VZ: The biggest and cheapest Baby Bell (PE:13), owns part of the biggest wireless companies with national footprint

KPN: European wireless play, fiber network Venture with Qwest, fairly inexpensive but increasing debt due to E-Plus acquisition and 3G license costs.

WCOM: Owns the biggest internet backbone,international ventures and aggressive managment. Good balance sheet

T: Sum of its part is worth much more than the current market cap. Cable, Wireless, CLEC, Content, International - you have got it all with one buy.

MCLD: McLeod management has been successfull in the past; the only CLEC I follow, very agressive and seems to have the financial cloud to succeed.

I think that an investment of a basket in these companies will outperform the SP500 by a huge margin during the next five years
