>>>regarding deltree and temp files

Back rather quickly <g>

Not quite sure of what I'm saying, but will try to pull it together (thus far)

I didn't create a .BAT file which I (now) gather you're s'posed to do in Windows & open in DOS (to save typing?). My Windows skills pretty feeble & DOS is a wing & a prayer.
What i did was boot up in DOS, enter & execute the commands, one by one, & exited to Windows which MD'ed the damage :) I think.

So I don't think I ran any risk of any of those things that happen if commands are placed in the autoexec.bat from the run command in Windows.

What really impresses is that it took over 40 minutes for DELTREE Y/ C\WINDOWS\TEMPOR~1 to execute. That many files must have been a real drag on the system. Not only that, but I haven't a clue what they were or how to get at them any other way.

I mean I'm assuming putting the DELTREE /Y C:\WINDOWS\TEMP into the startup menu per the article (have now bookmarked that site for ongoing!) is only going to do it for the C:\WINDOWS\TEMP. However that also seems to remove all passwords, so that's not so good either JMO

So, with my limited experience, I'm inclined to perform the DOS sweep periodically to get at all the little rascals.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm ready for the Win System Tools drill in #11941.

Did you notice that PCWorld has a link to an automatic (I think) defrag? diskeeper.com
