Well, if anyone's keeping score, chalk me up as pro one button mouse. Not that I'm easily confused by the presence of a second button... I just like to see the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) principle applied where possible.

With the 2 button mouse at work I always have that momentary point of click indecision. Especially when there's an absence of action click fest. You click. Nothing happens. Click again. Click-click again. Then the awareness of the second button kicks in. Click second button. Again. Still nothing. With one button, you click, then double click, then go on about your business.

It's like having a house full of doors with two hand knobs and the right one is the correct one except for one or two where the left one is correct.

The Mac mouse has got along well for the past 16 years without second and third buttons and gimmicky scroll wheels. I, for one, don't want 'em.

What might be interesting is the device we might see if Apple should license the eye tracker technology developed by Autonomous who was acquired by Summit who was acquired by Alcon a subsidiary of Nestle. We could just hold the wireless clicker in our hand and direct the pointer with our eyes. Be great for those fighter pilot simulation games! Hmmm... come to think of it, the device was actually developed for the military for Apachie gunship pilots to acquire targets with.

Guess I've come full circle.
