British Midland Lifts Off With Concur
Solution

International Airline to Reduce Operational Costs, Increase Business
Efficiencies, and Achieve Rapid ROI by Employing Concur's ASP Expense
Management Solution

REDMOND, Wash., Sept. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- British Midland, the UK's second largest
scheduled airline, announced today its decision to select an Application Service Provider (ASP)
delivery model developed by Concur Technologies (Nasdaq: CNQR - news) to automate its
travel and entertainment (T&E) expense management process. The Concur Expense(TM) ASP
solution will allow British Midland to manage its T&E expenses more efficiently and
cost-effectively, enabling the company to focus on its core business and better compete in the
global economy.

Commenting on the decision to use Concur's ASP solution, Richard Rose, General Manager of
Financial Control for British Midland, said: ``We needed a solution that would enable our
people to access the system via the Internet, but many of the offerings on the market required a
substantial 'upfront' fee. Concur's ASP product is quick to implement and easy to use -- this
means our staff can be up and running on the system with minimal demand on their time. From a
financial viewpoint, fast deployment means that we will quickly generate savings.''

In 1999, British Midland carried 6.5 million passengers and returned a profit of 13.7 million
pounds sterling, but its success goes beyond the runway. The company maintains a rather
forward-thinking policy of ensuring cost effectiveness and efficiency throughout its financial and
IT processes.

The airline's decision to deploy an ASP model marks something of a step-change in attitudes
towards software solution management. With a workforce of 6,400, British Midland opted for
the ASP solution to suit the global nature of its business and which can be easily deployed
without being a drain on the resources of their IT department. In addition, the Web-based
solution delivers speedy Return On Investment (ROI), and requires significantly lower set-up
costs than a license deployment.
