I believe that you have demonstrated that there is a reasonable doubt about the accusations that have been made against Jim and guess that the New Haven police have singled him out to bring resolution to the case however falsely.

Puck, note that Sgt Edward Kendall, "former No. 2 man in the detective bureau" is about to be arrested for lying about an investigation. His boss, Capt Brian Sullivan, was put on leave months ago for possibly ordering a cover-up. These were the very people responsible for the Jovin murder investigation. These were the very people who without a stitch of evidence tossed Prof Van de Velde's name to the press and did whatever it took to keep it there to keep the press and the public from realizing they had botched the investigation from day one.

As the cliché goes, the whole police investigation goes from the ridiculous to the sublime. When you hear what the police were told and what they did with that information, it makes you wish the Keystone Cops were investigating and not the New Haven Police. And when you think about how the police must have filtered this information to the Jovins, cruelty is the only word that comes to mind. I wouldn't be surprised if the Jovins also ended up suing the New Haven Police and Yale. At the very least, the Jovins should demand the grand jury investigate how the New Haven Police handled their daughter's investigation.

While great strides have been made in unraveling the "why me" question, as far as I know, the murder investigation itself is at a standstill. I don't even know if there's anyone working on it that actively. I and a friend put up posters in New Haven in an attempt to generate a lead or two, but I'm not even sure how many posters survived the next day let alone whether they generated any interest. I'm open to suggestions on what to try next... from you, the police, the Jovins... doesn't matter as long as this case gets solved once and for all.
