Tucker: Amazing how we could read the same document and come to such completely opposite conclusions.

ref: "If any of the RMBS bulls that disagreed with me would like to continue to disagree, I would ask you to refute the information in the referenced article, rather than make a blanket statement with no justification."

WHAT information? I see lots of opinion expressed by ol' Jack and friends, but no factual information.

For example, <<"Both NEC and Hitachi wanted to avert any Rambus legal action that could impede the launch of the new joint venture," said Bob Merritt, an analyst at Semico Research Corp. based in Redwood City, Calif. "They're now assured they can start with a clean slate.">>

...may well play out to be:

"NEC-Hitachi DRAM venture hints at accepting Rambus tax"

eet.com

"..Asked about the new company's stance on Rambus' royalty and licensing campaign, an NEC spokesman said, "My understanding is that they will probably sign something by the end of the year." The new company "doesn't want a legal confrontation," he added. "It just wants to get the business established and up and running as smoothly as possible."

and

"...Even though the new DRAM company will be an independent operation on paper, it has no fabrication facilities of its own and will rely on NEC and Hitachi for manufacturing capabilities. Any action by Rambus that would try to stop the import of SDRAM or DDR SDRAM into the United States in the absence of an agreement could pose a threat to the parent companies' manufacturing operations."
