Hey E, try a little,
Subject 24339
or better still put some in the grandchild's resp, anyone with a granny that old must be long in the tooth<<gggg>>>

Regenerative braking or dynamic braking has been perfected on railway locomotives for years but unfortunately the energy produced is blown off as heat(hot plate idea grids) so is not very regenerative. (A large benefit using this is no wear on wheels or shoe's in the train and they have also mastered traction control<very precise> on locomotives so almost zero slippage)...maybe we will see the day in the future when the electrical energy produced by locomotives dynamic braking of trains descending a grade can be stored to assist in the pull up a grade ..price of fuel these days ...who knows?Anyway look to the above company and a miniturization of what the railways already know for the answers.
Did you see that wind, solar ship on the discovery channel..solar panels that not only produce electricity for the electric motors but can be "air foiled" and configured to act as sails...WOW!
