Compaq ProLiant ML570 Sets Record in TPC-C Price/Performance with First-Ever Cost/tpmC Under $10
Flexible Configuration of Multipurpose ProLiant ML570 Enables Customers to Maximize Transaction Processing Power or Minimize Transaction Costs
HOUSTON, Sept. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Reaffirming its commitment to offering customers both leading price/performance and leading performance in industry standard servers, Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ - news) today announced that its new Compaq ProLiant ML570 Pentium III Xeon 700 MHz server has achieved the best price/performance of any 4-way server system. In the recently published results of its TPC-C benchmarks, Compaq's ProLiant ML570 achieved 20,207.20 transactions per minute (tpmC) at a record-smashing $9.99/tpmC* while running Microsoft SQL 2000 Standard Edition and Microsoft Windows 2000 Server. Earlier this year, the ProLiant ML570 sister 4P server, the ProLiant DL580, posted the leading 4P TPC-C benchmark at 33,507.75 transactions per minute (tpmC) at just $14.09/tpmC**
``Setting this TPC-C benchmark in server performance is a milestone akin to breaking the four-minute mile mark for runners. It not only validates our position as a leader in industry standard servers, but reinforces our ability to provide customers with superior performance at the best value,'' said Brad Anderson, Vice President, Mainstream Server Segment, Compaq Industry Standard Server Group. ``In a transaction-intensive world, companies now more than ever need to reduce their cost of servicing customers, and Compaq has consistently delivered servers that have helped drive down the cost of transactions.''
Customers Benefit from System Flexibility
Replacing the ProLiant 5500 and 6400R models, respectively, these new multipurpose servers handle the various workloads of enterprise applications, including ERP, intensive transaction processing, Database and Web hosting for both Service Providers and enterprises with traditional business models.
These TPC-C benchmarks provide evidence that the ProLiant ML570, optimized for maximum internal expansion, and the density-optimized ProLiant DL580 deliver customers of all data center environments the best combination of performance and cost per transaction in 4-way servers. Both servers are built to provide enterprise performance, high availability and reliability to rapid- growth businesses, as well as seamlessly expand the processing capabilities of existing businesses. Enterprise customers are able to capitalize on the ProLiant ML570's flexibility by configuring the system to maximize transaction processing power or minimize transaction costs. In addition, the ProLiant ML570 is scalable enough to power enterprise solutions as users build, grow and manage their e-business requirements.
