JC-

Great, they have little tiny single processor workstations coming out, they'll probably sell a ton of them.

How many of these workstations do they need to sell to make up for ONE lost sale to IBM on an E10000?

you're confusing 'ignoring the obvious' with your obvious ignorance. --- Sun has previously announced a ramping that begins with workstations and small servers and ramps to the high end

Sun also previously announced the Ultra Sparc III at 1.5 Ghz with availability in Summer of 1998.

I see the bottom up approach as a cover up. It takes at least two years to get one of these chipsets done. It was probably obvious at least a year ago the single processor systems would be ready long before the SMP configurations, hence the bottom up strategy they've been pushing for the last few months. It's good PR, but bad business. I wonder how many people will just buy a cheap workstation instead of the more high priced 2 or 4 way USII system over the next 6 months?
