the gold miners did well...extremely well in fact. don't know about the base metal miners either, but i think copper prices were behaving well during the stagflation.

appearance of a frontal attack ) , Gold Fields' Chairman
Chris Thompson clearly suggests a revamp of the
heretofore pretentious World Gold Council.

Thompson is also thought to be keen on improving the
role of the World Gold Council, even to the point of a
complete overhaul. There's a hint of this in the group's
latest annual report in which he calls for a larger,
more accurate statistical understanding of the gold
market: "We also believe that a larger, more accurate
statistical understanding of the gold market is needed
and that a gold statistical agency, supported by all
market participants should be encouraged," he writes.

It appears many experts of the gold industry and
international media are questioning the loyalties and
motives of the World Gold Council.>>
