Capitalism means free enterprise....but does that mean at any cost. I think this country needs to rethink its energy policy. We do not have the right to be wastefully consuming such a large percentage of the earth's resources in the name of free enterprise. At some point we need to consider future generations and what their needs will be. But like I said in a much earlier post, we act like indulgent children.....we need our toys.

As long as you truly have free enterprise and market allocation of goods the price should reflect there scarcity.
Future generations will benefit from the economy that we are developing and if energy is more expensive then they will
at least likely be richer and more able to afford the added costs.
My car is a practical item not a toy but even if it was (and if I was really rich I likely would buy a Porshe turbo or something like that) I would be buying it with my own money and would have every right to do so. I am not a child
and the phrase "we are acting like indulgent children" is scary because it implies that they want to act like the stern parent and control the "indulgent child".
