Paul,

If the lights were synchronized on streets like Lawrence Expressway, Silicon Valley fuel consumption would drop significantly and productivity would be enhanced. Silicon Valley has quite possibly the worst traffic lights in the country.

Our children will have good reason to be seriously PO'd when we run out of gas in 20 years. We have squandered it mindlessly. I can think of few things more stupid we do than sit in traffic jams due to bad traffic management.

Why can't wireless networks be set up to manage communication between traffic lights?
