Neo, what's preposterous is that anyone can look at Al Gore's multitrillion dollar new spending initiatives and believe he's going to pay down the debt. Once the government starts paying for everyone over 55's prescription drugs, the cost is going to double and maybe triple.

The rise in medical costs in American is directly related to the government involvement in medicine in the mid 60's. Before the government started paying for medical costs, those costs closely tracked aggregate inflation. After the government got involved, costs started rising about 2.5 times inflation. You can bet the same thing will happen to prescription drug costs. Therefore, (this one aspect) of Gore's economic plan is nonsense. The rest of his plan is undoubtedly full of the same thing.
