Paul, Actually, I have had similar thoughts - but my idea is turn Lawrence and San Tomas and Montague (and others) into 6/8 lane ONE-WAY EXPRESSWAYS - with NO TRAFFIC LIGHTS - going towards the business district from 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM and then REVERSE them from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM (1 hour closure for the changeover). There is no question that one-way streets would make the synchronization much easier, because it eliminates left turns across traffic. Also, if lights were triggered by traffic leaving the previous light, rather than by cars arriving at the current light, this would minimize the plague of lights which turn red as you approach them. A constructive thought, finally !! It is important to define the problem before you attempt to solve it. Scumbria
