All of these educational plans and standards mean nothing and are jokes unless the system attracts highly qualified educators to implement them.

The System can't attract enough highly qualified educators partly because they don't pay the salary to get enough of them. Others just leave and become Entrepreneurs, because they are harassed and coerced by the degenerate ideology of the NEA and UFT to become mediocre. Sure, the NEA and UFT are garbage. Everyone knows that. The administrators there come from the rank and file teachers who want out of the classroom.

Change For The Better Requires:

1) Get rid of Tenure. Many go into the profession for the wrong reason: Job security
2) Pay for the Top Educators. Otherwise the system will never hire enough of them. Others will leave after a brief stay for greener pastures.
3) Eliminate the 10 week summer vacation.

PS The Teacher Unions are basically opposed to Merit Pay. So, are most teachers because they don't want to(can't) compete. Your dealing with a civil service mentality in regard to the Teacher Unions. The only way you break that is to bring in the Entrepreneurial Minded Teacher.
