DENVER, Sept. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- New Era of Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: NEON - news), a
leading e-Business enabler, today announced its newest Business-to-Business (B2B) product,

Expanded EDI Capability

NEON has incorporated PaperFree technology into its e-Business product suite to manage
high-volume data transformation for clients using EDI including X12 and EDIFACT, and XML.
NEON XML dialects include Microsoft BizTalk, CBL and RosettaNet versions.

NEON has extensive credentials in transitional EDI for B2B electronic communication. With the
expanded capabilities provided by PaperFree technology, NEON can now extend the customers'
EDI investment to XML.

PaperFree has more than 7,000 licensed users and is the solution of choice for customers with
high-volume EDI/XML needs. More than 10 million B2B transactions are processed each month
through PaperFree software. This number is expected to increase significantly in the next year.

``Many clients have spent an enormous amount of time and money implementing their systems
using data exchange standards such as EDI. It is not practical for them to walk away from that
investment. At the same time, others are actively implementing new technology standards such as
XML,'' said Peter Hoversten, president of e-Business solutions for NEON. ``With the addition of
PaperFree's capabilities, NEON can protect our clients' historical investments while
accelerating their transition to the next stage of Internet deployment. We make it possible for
companies to aggressively participate in the New Economy on their own terms.''

By adding PaperFree's strength and flexibility in XML/EDI to its already extensive B2B product
line, NEON accelerates the implementation of next-generation trading networks and offers
customers end-to-end solutions. A major challenge companies face in adopting trading networks
is the difficulty of moving to the next generation of technology while operating the current
generation. The combined NEON/PaperFree solution accommodates different emerging
standards while providing connections to existing standards.
