I use a single monitor, and I have seen dual monitors used with different open windows displayed, but not multiple active windows, since essentially if you are not networked you are operating in a single user mode, so the end result is that regardless of whether you are working in web view, classic view, or custom view (option for opening in same window or own window), each mouse or keyboard click into a window activates it.

I presume you have experimented with folder settings?

Start | Settings | Folder Options |

In this day and age when there is a shareware program for just about every purpose, it would not surprise me if there was a utility out there that might give you some relief.

If my wife were her, she would say to heck with Eric and Alt-Tab to activate her window from her keyboard at the expense of my mouse.
