Rarebird, you make many interesting points. I think the argument between you and David stems from his perception that you were bashing the Soviet people rather than their leaders. I understand that you were attacking the sytem and its leaders - not the people. Living under Communist rule does not mean that you believe in the system but one had to play the game or go to Siberia. I think the Soviets suffered the greatest losses of all the combatants. The winter at Stalingrad was a major turning point but millions of Soviets would die on the way to Berlin. I think the Soviets lost 300,000 taking Berlin. Mike
