Thanks Art,
I wonder what Warren Buffet or Peter Lynch would say about NTOP or IDTC now? There maybe some potential here yet if this mystery switch does exist and there is some superior technology there, but based on the history of both NTOP and IDTC I'm starting to doubt this is the case. This is the news I expected. They do have many big names behind them, but seems to me the software deal yesterday is nothing more than a fairly risky startup at the moment. Sooo, we have a core business that's losing significant money, where revenues and margins are on their way down, and a software startup. Does this switch exist, and if so, have they waited too long to do something with it? There's been talk of this thing going all they way back to at least early '98 if I recall.
Seems IDTC has the same problem with shrinking revenues and margins in their core business, so investors are basically trusting HJ to take his cash and create a new winner business. What are the chances with the miles of roadkill HJ has created over the last year or two. I may be wrong, but I believe every one of the dozen or so ventures I remember since NTOP is either dead or not talked about much any longer. Maybe HJ was right on base when he publically labeled his investors as "stupid" a year or so ago<g>. Just so no one takes this wrong, I was one of 'em.
Does this sound like Warren Buffet's style?
If this overview of my impression of these two companies strikes anyone as incredibly off base, I'd appreciate any constructive comments, otherwise I'll leave you guys alone and once again wish everyone good luck.
regards,
